Have you ever been working outside and come inside to get a drink of cold water? Or maybe it was coming off the playing field completely spent and being refreshed by a gulp of cold water? Did you know that the Bible talks about what “cold water” is like “to a weary soul” (Prov. 25:25)? It’s had the same effect on humans since the beginning of time!
Now, let’s finish that verse: “As cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a far country.” Hearing good news from a distant place, that perhaps you were not expecting, is as satisfying and refreshing as drinking cold water after a hard day’s work.
Do you know the greatest “good news” that has ever come from “a far country”? His name is Jesus Christ! He came down to this earth from the far country heaven! And He is the refreshing drink that every weary soul needs today! Look around you! There are weary souls everywhere—wearied from life, from sin, from hardships! They desperately need the good news from a far country!
