So many things have been done to depict the devil almost as a caricature that some people (even Christians) have a hard time accepting that the devil is real or that he has any influence over them today. No doubt, that is one of his “devices” (2 Cor. 2:11) that he uses to “deceive” (Rev. 12:9) folks and keep them “blinded” (2 Cor. 4:4) to his destructive “power” (Eph. 2:2).
But your Bible shows that Satan is very real and very dangerous! Ask Adam and Eve if he is real (Gen. 3:1-6). Ask David if he is real (1 Chron. 21:1). Ask Job if he is real (Job 1:1-2:10). Ask Jesus if he is real (Matt. 4:1-11). Ask Judas if he is real (Luke 22:1-6; John 13:2, 27). Ask Peter if he is real (Luke 22:31, 54-62). Ask Ananias and Sapphira if he is real (Acts 5:1-11).
The devil is tricky (Gen. 3:1; 2 Cor. 11:3). He will try to convince you that he is not a big deal. He will try to convince you that you can handle a little sin. Don’t fall for it! “Resist him steadfast in the faith” (1 Pet. 5:8-9)! Do not give him any opportunity or foothold (Eph. 4:27)!
