Sounds pretty good, right? What would you do to be part of such an incredible offer? If you’re like me, you’d have that form signed and submitted as soon as humanly possible. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus gave us the offer of a lifetime, saying, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” We have a Lord that wants us and understands our struggles. And He wants to take those struggles away. All we have to do is choose to learn His ways and take up His mission, which He promises is easy. Who wouldn’t jump at this kind of offer?
Maybe Jesus’ offer doesn’t feel real enough. Some might think, “All we know is the world around us and despite the challenges, I feel I’m pretty much in control. So why change my life for a heaven I can’t see?” But, Jesus rose from the dead. That means everything He said about heaven is true. Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3). Jesus saw heaven and is preparing it for all who accept His offer. And since Jesus is alive, I know it is true (cf. 1 Cor. 15:20-21).
Maybe they believe everything Jesus said about heaven, but they just aren’t ready to make the changes necessary to accept it. Then, perhaps they don’t know how great the offer is. In Revelation 21:4, the Bible tells us, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” What wouldn’t you give up for such a great prize?
