
What if you took a slip a paper and wrote the answers to the following questions? If you turned off the television for one day, how many minutes would that give you? 30? 60? 240? If you turned off social media for one day, how many minutes would that give you? If you turned off the video games for one day, how many minutes would that give you? If you turned off YouTube videos for one day, how many minutes would that give you? If you jotted down some numbers for each of those questions, what would be the total? Do you know how much combined time the typical adult spends on these four media entertainment options each day?
The average is 7-8 hours each day. You may argue with that and say you are below average. Ok, what’s your total? It’s at least four hours, but probably closer to the average of 7-8 hours. This article is not telling you to turn everything off! But just to raise a question: what could you do for the Lord, for His church and for your own spiritual health if you took back just 1-2 hours each day?
