While sitting in a waiting room, I overheard two ladies speaking about their weekend plans. One lady talked about going to church on Sunday, but the other lady said, “I work six days a week. Sunday is my only day off. I need a day for me. So, I haven’t gone to church in years.” The first lady started to encourage the second lady, and then the nurse came out and called my name. I did not get to see those ladies again.
But those words have been rattling in my mind –
“Sunday is my only day off. I need a day for me.”
I recognize that our lives are busy and that work and other obligations can be quite burdensome. But let us recall our very purpose for existence in this life—God said, “I have created [them] for My glory” (Isa. 43:7). Having been “bought at a price,” “you are not your own,” therefore, “glorify God” (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
I realize that these words might be “easy for a preacher to say,” but let us please be reminded what this life is all about—it’s all about Him (not me)!
