The sticker on your back

When we went to visit our daughter and our newly-born second grandson in the hospital (oh, and our son-in-law, too), we brought our 2-year-old grandson with us. At the security check-in desk, Traci and I both presented our driver’s licenses and got our stickers with our names on them. They also printed a sticker for the 2-year-old and told us to put it on his back. Instead of his name, the sticker had printed in large letters: “My Child. Return to: David Sproule.” What a great security feature if the child got separated from us!

That made me think. Hasn’t God placed (figuratively, of course) a sticker on each of our backs with large letters: “My Child. Return to: God”? He’s placed one on my back and your back, and on the back of every lost person we see this week. And, yes, He has placed one on the back of each of our children. It’s God’s “security feature”—reminding us whenever we see any person that it is our job to return them to God.

That hospital would have done anything to get a separated child safely back where he belonged. Will you do that with everyone you see today (John 4:35)?
