Romans 8 begins and ends with a reminder of the blessings of being “in Christ Jesus.” In Christ, there is “now no condemnation” (8:1)! Wow! In Christ, nothing “shall be able to separate us from the love of God” (8:38-39)! Wow! The verses in between enumerate the riches of these blessings by emphasizing how God sent “His own Son” (8:3), “condemned sin” (8:3), gives “the Spirit” to “dwell in” us (8:9-11), “will give us life” (8:11, 13), adopts us to call God our “Father” (8:15), grants us to be called “children of God” (8:16), makes us “heirs of God” to be “glorified” with Christ (8:17), gives us “hope” of “the glory which shall be revealed in us” (8:18, 24), “makes intercession” in our prayers (8:26-27, 34), promises to “work” all things “together for good” (8:28), conforms us “to the image of His Son” (8:29), gives us confidence that God is “for us” (8:31), reminds us that He “did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all” (8:32), makes us “more than conquerors” through His love (8:37), from which we cannot be “separated” (8:35, 39).
Thank God for the overflowing, UNDESERVED blessings that we have in Christ Jesus!
