Worship is on holy ground

The Lord told Moses, “The place where you stand is holy ground” (Ex. 3:5). The Lord told Joshua, “The place where you stand is holy” (Josh. 5:15). The presence of God made that place “holy.”

When we come before the Lord, we enter into a holy place. We do not merely enter into a building, but we “come to worship before” Him (Isa. 66:23), for He “alone” is “holy” (Rev. 15:4). “Worship” of the Lord is to be done “in the beauty of holiness” (Psa. 29:2; 96:9). What does that mean?

Worship, as designed by “the Lord our God” who “is holy” (Psa. 99:9), is to “Exalt the Lord,” and not any person (Psa. 99:5). Holy worship engages the “spirit” of man (John 4:23-24; 1 Cor. 14:15), as he follows the pattern of Divine “truth” (John 4:23-24). Holy worship refuses to allow man’s traditions (Matt. 15:8-9) or man’s will (Col. 2:23) to influence any part of the worship of the holy God, for He Himself will not accept such (Lev. 10:3). What a blessed thought that, when we worship, we are on holy ground!
