Audio

  1. Pride Seeks the Best Place vs. Humility Takes the Low Place (Luke 14:7-14)
    • Pride Revealed: It wants to be noticed (14:7)
    • Pride’s Ruin: It invites humiliation (14:8-9, 11a)
    • Humility’s Response: It chooses and is satisfied with the low place (14:10, 11b)
    • Jesus’ Example: He humbled Himself for the undeserving (Phil. 2:6-8)
    • Our Application: Take a lower, less-prominent place and let God do the exalting at His discretion
  2. Pride Praises Self vs. Humility Pleads for Mercy (Luke 18:9-14)
    • Pride Revealed: It trusts in its own goodness (18:9, 11-12)
    • Pride’s Ruin: It blinds us to our own sin, leaving us unjustified before God (18:9, 14)
    • Humility’s Response: It cries for mercy (18:13)
    • Jesus’ Example: He humbly showed mercy to others (Luke 5:29-32)
    • Our Application: Stop comparing against others—compare against Jesus and stand honestly before God
  3. Pride Wants to Be Served vs. Humility Lives to Serve (Mark 10:35-45)
    • Pride Revealed: It craves position (10:35-38a)
    • Pride’s Ruin: It creates resentment and competition (10:41)
    • Humility’s Response: It becomes a servant (10:42-44)
    • Jesus’ Example: He served and gave His life a ransom (10:45)
    • Our Application: Stop asking, “Who will serve me?” and start asking, “Whom can I serve?”
