Sometimes at a wedding or a funeral, there will be a slideshow of pictures, showing the growth of a person over the years. It’s fun to see the development from a very young child to a much older adult, where the pictures at the end look nothing like the pictures at the beginning.
What if…someone put together a slideshow right now (if this could be done) of pictures of your soul over the last 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, 50 years to show the growth that has taken place in your Bible knowledge, your heart’s application of Scripture to decisions in your life, your daily walk with the Lord? Would the pictures at the end of that development cycle look anything like the pictures at the beginning?
God was exasperated with some Christians in the first century, who were not growing as they should (Heb. 5:12-14). If God looked at (which He does!) the picture slideshow of your soul’s development, would He be pleased or dissatisfied? What can you do today to advance yourself down the path of greater growth?
