Let's Go Back to the Bible

One positive for every negative?

What if…? What if for every negative comment you made you had to in turn make one positive comment? How would this affect you? Would you reduce the number of negative comments you make?

What if every time you complained about your boss, complained about your work, complained about your spouse, complained about your kids, complained about the elders at your congregation, complained about something in the worship service, complained about someone at church…what if every time you complained or made a negative comment…you had to immediately say something positive, nice and uplifting?

Too often we find ourselves imitating the Israelites (i.e., the Complainites) in the Old Testament, as they seemed to grumble and complain about nearly everything. No wonder God used them “as examples…for our admonition,” commanding us not to “complain” like they did (1 Cor. 10:10-11). Underscore the word “all” in Philippians 2:14—“Do all things without complaining and disputing.” Let’s fill our hearts and our speech with positives, not negatives!
