What Bible teacher do you rely on?

Too many Christians rely on their favorite preacher to explain the Bible to them! Or maybe it’s their favorite podcaster or social media “scholar.” Whoever their “Bible expert” is, they listen to him, follow him, rely on him, and then believe whatever he leads them to believe (even if he never intended for such to happen).

Read 2 Timothy 2:15. I love the first word in the King James Version—“Study.” Other translations have, “Be diligent.” In the context of Bible study, that word is an imperative (meaning, it is a command of God), and it is second person singular. “Singular” means that it is pointed straight at you. In order to “present yourself” (singular, pointing straight at you) “approved to God,” you need to be that “worker” (singular, pointing straight at you) who is “handling aright the word of truth.”

God doesn’t say, “Rely on others.” God says, “Get into the book yourself! Study it! Be diligent!” God is going to hold you accountable for you! The God who gave you the Bible gave you your own brain to understand it. Get busy using both of those together!
