What Does The Bible Say About How To Be Saved?
Many people searching for spiritual truth find themselves asking two of the most important questions in life: “What religion is right?” and “How can I be saved?” These are not just philosophical or academic inquiries. They are deeply personal and eternal ones.
At the Palm Beach Lakes church of Christ, we believe the Bible gives a clear and trustworthy answer to both. In this article, we’ll explore what the Bible says about salvation and how Christianity stands apart from other belief systems when it comes to your eternal destiny.
Why You Should Ask What Religion is Right About Salvation
With so many religions in the world offering different paths to peace, truth, and salvation, it’s natural to wonder which one is right. But because these religions make vastly different claims—about God, truth, life, and eternity—they cannot all be true.
The Bible stands out for several reasons:
- Historical reliability – Archaeological findings and historical documents continue to confirm its accuracy.
- Textual preservation – The Bible has been faithfully handed down over thousands of years with minimal variation.
- Consistent message – Though written by dozens of authors over centuries, the Bible’s message is unified and cohesive.
- Fulfilled prophecy – Hundreds of Old Testament prophecies have been fulfilled in verifiable ways, especially in the life of Jesus Christ.
This evidence points us toward the conclusion that the Bible deserves our attention when asking, “What religion is right?”
What Makes Christianity Different from Other Religions?
Most world religions focus on what humans must do to reach God—through good works, rituals, or enlightenment. Christianity, however, centers on what God has done to reach us.
The Bible’s message is one of grace. It teaches that salvation is not something we earn, but something we receive (Ephesians 2:8-9). The Bible invites us into a relationship with a Savior who gave His life for us. That’s the heart of Christianity, and that’s what makes it different.
How to Be Saved: The Bible’s Clear Answer
The Bible outlines a simple but powerful path to salvation:
1. Recognize the Problem: Sin
All of us have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Sin separates us from God, and its consequence is death—not just physical, but spiritual.
2. Believe in Jesus Christ
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Salvation requires believing that He died for your sins and was raised from the dead (Romans 10:9-10). There is no other way to the Father but through Him.
3. Repent and Be Baptized
In Acts 2:38, Peter told the crowd, “Repent and be baptized…for the forgiveness of your sins.” Baptism isn’t just a tradition. It’s a commandment from God, and a moment of surrender where we unite with Jesus in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4), and are saved from our sins by His blood (Acts 22:16).
4. Follow Jesus as Lord
Salvation is not just a one-time decision. It’s a lifelong journey of discipleship. Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). The Christian life is one of growth, obedience, and grace.
