Let's Go Back to the Bible

Thought for the Day (Page 150)

The ONE consistent

Things are changing so rapidly! The advances in technology seem to have brought about advances in almost every part of our lives. Sometimes (maybe all of the time) it is hard to keep up! Where will things be 10 years from now? 20 years? 100 years? The imagination can run with ideas, but that’s all we’re doing at that point–  imagining. Go…

The grass is always greener… or is it?

Why is it that the grass always seems greener on the other side? Other couples seem to be happier. Other husbands/wives seem to have it better. Other kids have nicer parents. Other coworkers have it easier. Other church members don’t have it as hard. Other congregations are happier and seem more blessed. Other people’s lives just look so much better. Why doesn’t…

Watching you, watching you!

Hall and Oates sang in the early 1980s about “Private Eyes–They’re watching you, they see your every move, they’re watching you, watching you, watching you.” More than 30 years later, we have NSA surveillance of just about every aspect of our lives, usually without our permission or our knowledge. We are constantly being watched. But, as a Christian, it’s not the Private…

Your storms will obey Jesus, too!

Often it is for some  value that the one sought can provide to or for the one seeking. But, no! Jesus didn’t seek me for any value that I could provide to Him!…

Faith and doubt — not the best of buds!

How deep is your faith? How deep is your faith in God…in Jesus…in the Bible? True Bible faith is an obedient trust in God that believes and does whatever He says, no matter what. Scripture records that Abraham “did not waver at the promise of God,” but he was “fully convinced that what [God] had promised He was also able to perform”…

Self-examinations

Our physical health is of such tremendous importance to us that we constantly monitor certain health issues that come our way. We are wary of certain spots on our skin, growths that appear, pains in certain places, problems with our vision, etc., etc., etc. While we realize it or not, we are doing regular self-examinations to keep  ourselves as healthy as possible.…
