    2. Godly mothers understand children belong first to the Lord (Psa. 127:3)
    3. A mother walking with Jesus teaches children early: We do what God says (Matt. 12:48-50; cf. John 2:5)
  2. Like Mary – They Bring Their Children to Jesus (Luke 8:19-20)
    1. Mary kept showing up where Jesus was (Matt. 12:46-47)
    2. While her sons were not where they needed to be spiritually, she kept moving them toward Jesus (Mark 3:21; John 7:5)
    3. You may not be able to change your child’s heart, but you can keep bringing them where Jesus can (2 Cor. 3:18)
  3. Like Mrs. Zebedee – They Position Their Children Close to Jesus (Matt. 20:20-22)
    1. She wanted a special place for her sons with Jesus in His kingdom
    2. The closer one is to Jesus, the more like Jesus he will be (Gal. 2:20)
    3. Being in the Lord’s church is critical, being active is essential (1 Cor. 12:18; 15:58)
  4. Like Mrs. Clopas – They Stay Near the Cross of Jesus (Mark 15:40-16:1)
    1. Mary, the mother of James and Joses, appears to be Clopas’ wife (John 19:25)
    2. Everyone else had abandoned Jesus, except for these women
    3. Faithful mothers stay with Jesus even in sorrow, disappointment and pain
    4. When hope seems to be lost, never lose sight of the cross (Heb. 12:2-3)
  5. Like the Temple Mothers – They Teach Their Children to Praise Jesus (Matt. 21:15)
    1. They teach their children the greatness of Jesus (Psa. 8:2; 145:4)
    2. They teach their children not to be silenced by critics (Acts 5:29)
    3. They teach their children to express faith without shame (Rom. 1:16; 2 Tim. 1:8)
  6. Like the Syro-Phoenician Mother – They Don’t Quit on Their Children (Mark 7:24-30)
    1. Her daughter was in serious trouble (Matt. 15:22)
    2. She refused to stop seeking help from Jesus (Mark 7:26)
    3. Evil in the life of a child is powerful, but God is more powerful (Rom. 8:31; 1 John 4:4)
    4. Don’t ever stop or give up on pleading for the soul of your child (1 Thess. 5:17)
